Bell Ringer

Directions: Anton Chechov uses imagery and figurative langauge often to describe setting, characters, reactions, etc. For this bell ringer, identify five examples of imagery and/or figurative language and determine what type is used (i.e., simile, metaphor, personification, idiom, hyperbole, etc.).

Keep this in mind as you read.....

Question: How does the Bolshevik Revolution help us understand Blok's poem "The Twelve?"
After reading the poem, we will go to the computer lab to develop a short (6 slide) PowerPoint presentation addressing this question.

‍‍Active Reading

Read and annotate "The Twelve"
As you read, look for Blok's "so what." Make specific notes on this at the end of the poem. Can you state the "so what" in one sentence?

Remember: By "so what," I mean his POINT, his SPECIFIC PURPOSE. What is he trying to say here?
